Today, my main task on my to do list was to sit down and start my blog. It is now half past two in the afternoon and I have procrastinated ALL day. It’s been very productive procrastination but I have done absolutely everything I can think of to put off sitting down and starting a blog… I’ve done the hoovering, washed my brushes (about 87 of them), sent out my invoices, updated my accounts, replied to my work emails, posted to social media, updated my website, cleaned and organised my kit, done the washing up… You get the picture. In fact, see pictures below. I was just about to text my friend Anna (another form of postponement) explaining how I had been procrastinating all day when I put down my phone, sat down at my desk and started to write.
I don’t know why I have such a mental block about starting a blog – what is the worst thing that can happen? Nonetheless, I have been putting it off for about a year. I managed to organise my entire wedding in eight months (whilst running a business and carrying on with normal life etc) but writing about my work, passions, business, clients, and trends etc apparently is near on impossible. I suppose it’s a bit like when you get a new notebook… I ALWAYS start on the second page, so the first page stays perpetually clean and fresh. Anyone else do that?!
Anyway I’m fairly certain that it’s a faux pas to have your very first blog post about how you didn’t know how (or indeed really want to) write a blog but here it is. I have written on the first page of my notebook, so to speak, and it wasn’t so bad after all! Check back next week for my next post.
Until next time, cheerio chums!
