Hello chums!
I have finally found a spare moment, in between bridal trials, to sit down at my computer and share the beautiful photos, by Helen England, of Cat and Rich’s gorgeous Spring Wedding at Upwaltham Barns. They got married on the 4th March, one of my first weddings of 2017.
Cat got in touch with me early last year after she found me via Upwalthams Barns, as I am one of their recommended suppliers. We chatted via email, thinking about the logistics of her wedding morning (we started her bridal prep at the Spread Eagle in Midhurst before moving to Upwaltham Barns later in the morning) and booked her in for her hair and makeup trial about eight weeks before her wedding.
Cat’s hair
Cat originally thought that she might like to wear her hair down as she very rarely wears it up. During her trial we tried a few different options (all of which I really loved) before settling on a loose relaxed side bun with a beautiful hair vine to finish the style. Cat wanted to keep her hair soft and unstructured with a few tendrils framing her face. I absolutely loved the final result and I was so pleased that Cat did too.
Cat’s makeup
Cat’s real concern was her skin (she has some areas of high colour) and throughout our emails and in her bridal trial, this came up a few times. To begin with Cat wanted really full coverage on her skin which I did for her. As soon as I had put the full coverage foundation on, I looked at it and took it off again! It looked like a mask and didn’t suit her at all. In the end we went for a lightweight long wearing sheer foundation (you may have already heard me praising MAC’s Face and Body foundation once or twice before…) paired with an effective concealer where needed and finished with a Blot Powder to absorb excess oil and shine. This resulted in a flawless, radiant and natural finish to Cat’s skin. I was thrilled to hear she received so many compliments on her skin throughout her wedding day!
I used soft taupes on Cat’s eyes and finished her eye makeup with plenty of mascara, and a few individual eyelashes nestled into her lash line to give her own lashes an extra boost.
For Cat’s lips, I used a soft peach lipstick which complemented the rest of her makeup beautifully.
Cat’s bridal party
As well as doing hair and makeup for Cat, I also did hair and makeup for her two adult bridesmaids and the hair for her two flower-girls. The flower-girls had ballerina buns in their hair, decorated with white flowers. This worked well with their pretty white dresses and shrugs.
Cat’s adult bridesmaids both decided to have low central chignons with smooth volume in the crown of their hair. Having their hair centrally worked well with their one shouldered dress, as well as being different from Cat’s side do. They also both opted to have soft, natural makeup which I then tailored to suit both their individual features. I think they look absolutely gorgeous.
You can see the rest of this wedding below as well as Cat’s lovely testimonial. Thanks Helen for sending over such beautiful images! x
“We are just getting back to reality after the honeymoon so I wanted to drop you a note to say a big thank you!
I honestly don’t know what you did to stop my giant pores sucking in all my foundation but it worked a treat!! I had so many compliments on my skin throughout the day and I didn’t need to even apply the blotting powder to soak up the shine. That is a first! What did you use?? I loved my hair and I know my bridesmaids were really happy with theirs too. Thanks again.“
