What products do you use?
I have a medley of brands in my kit. I choose products based on their quality, performance and durability. Products usually only make it into my kit, once they have been tried and tested in my own makeup bag, before receiving my seal of approval. Most of the essential products in my kit are by: MAC, NARS, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Charlotte Tilbury and By Terry.
When should I book my bridal trial?
About 4-6 weeks before the wedding is a good time to do your trial - the lighting will be about right, it'll be the right season, by then you'll probably have a clearer idea with regards to what you do or don't want in terms of your make up and hair and also what the rest of the wedding will look like (including your dress!)
How should I arrive at my bridal trial?
Your hair will need to be clean and dry for your trial; you can either wash it the night before or the morning of your appointment. Please don’t use straighteners or curling tongs before your trial as it affects the hair shaft and makes it harder to re-style. (Using a hairdryer is fine.)
I don’t mind if my bride arrives at the trial fresh faced with no makeup on or with a full face of makeup. Sometimes it’s handy to see how you usually wear your hair and makeup, so arriving with your usual makeup can give me an indication of how you look everyday.
It’s worth wearing something with a similar neckline to your wedding dress; it is also useful to wear a similar colour to your wedding dress for your trial.
What should I bring to my bridal trial?
Please bring your veil and/or any hair accessories that you’re planning on wearing for your wedding day. It’s also handy for you to bring along a photo of your dress. Don’t forget to bring your inspiration with you and also an open mind - the whole point of the trial is to try different options!
How long is the trial session?
Hair and make up trials are usually two-three hours long. The trial gives us an opportunity to find out what you like, hone our ideas and try out some different options. This is an ideal time to ask as many questions as you wish and to try the hair and make up you will be wearing for your wedding day. Trials are not obligatory for other members of your bridal party but can be booked in conjunction with your bridal trial.
What information do you need for my booking?
Please can you let me know what services you require for your wedding day, where you will be getting ready, the time you would like to be ready by and the time of your ceremony.
I only want my bridal hair or make up styled on the day; do you offer this service?
Yes I do offer just hair or make up for the bride; however there will be an additional charge of £50 for single bookings.
Can I change the services I require nearer to the wedding day?
Once the final payment has been made 4 weeks before the wedding day, any services removed will not be refunded. If you would like to add additional services, I am more than happy to if time allows.
How long will hair and makeup take on the wedding morning?
When I am creating wedding morning schedules, I usually allocate 45 minutes for make up and 45-60 minutes for hair. Having said that, timings for hair do vary considerably according to hair type (length and thickness) and also the desired hairstyle.
Do you use additional artists for larger bridal parties?
If you require hair and makeup for more than three people, then this can be too much work for one person within usual wedding morning time constraints. In this case, I would recommend using an experienced and recommended additional artist that I have previously worked with. This will incur an additional cost.
How far do you travel out to brides on the wedding day?
I am based in Surrey and regularly travel across Hampshire, Sussex and London as well as further afield. If you would like me to travel abroad for your destination wedding, please get in touch for a personalised quote.
